  1. Very helpful to know some of the main types of bikes. Which one is our favorite? Also any nutrition tips for competitive cyclist?

    1. Hey Lisa! My favorite type of bike right now is the cycle cross bike because it combines the speed of the road bike with a little bit more tread so you don’t have to worry as much about hitting stuff on the road, plus you can detour and hit a couple of light trails. For a competitive cyclist I definitely recommend having a good meal 2 hours before, with an emphasis on carbohydrates. It’s also important to hydrate well beforehand and throughout. A good recovery meal is something with both protein and carbohydrates, since you want to replenish your glycogen stores (sugar stored in the muscles) as well as provide your body with protein to rebuild your muscles.

  2. Yes, cyclocross bikes are so much fun! It will be my first season racing that kind of bike. They start up around September and are mostly held in Austin areas. Ive heard they are the funnest races to go to cause its a huge bike party every time. Ill let you know when I go up there so we can hang! Thanks for the info nutrition info. I found this meal plan pretty useful too. I’m loving the blog. Great recipes! Ill definitely try them soon.

    1. Oh that sounds awesome! Yes I’m loving my new bike, but I definitely need to ride more to get better. I’m actually moving back to SA in a month! Thanks, I made it for a class but I’m gonna try to keep up with it and see how that goes. The meal plan looks good! So are you eating meat again?
